What we listened in 2013

Hello darlings,
So like I told you a few days ago, it's again that time of the year when we have to review all the crazy things that happened this year. And since I already told you about the 5 most annoying people of 2013; it's now time, to review the songs that we heard this year literally everywhere we went. Remember how we couldn't even breathe without hearing "What rhymes with hug me?" -well, guess what, Robin, a lot of things rhyme with hug me, you genius.
So here is a top with the songs that defined 2013:

25. "Counting Stars" - OneRepublic
24. "Radioactive" - Imagine Dragons
23. "Heart Attack" - Demi Lovato
22. "Applause" - Lady Gaga
21. "Come & Get It" - Selena Gomez
20. "Let Her Go" - Passanger
19. "I Need Your Love" - Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding
18. "I Knew You Were Trouble" - Taylor Swift
17. "Started From The Bottom" - Drake
16. "Treasure" - Bruno Mars
15. "Cups" - Anna Kendrik (it all started with Pitch Perfect)
14. "I Love It" - Icona Pop ft Charli XCX
13. "Talk Dirty" - Jason Derulo
12. "Wake Me Up" - Avicii
11. "Scream & Shout" - Britney Spears ft. will.I.am

10. "Mirrors" - Justin Timberlake
Now, I love JT and I love this beautiful song and the fact that he paid tribute to his grandparents in the "Mirrors" video, but thank God, Justin Timberlake is back in the game, making music. I don't know what to say about his acting career, but sweetheart, you are a genius when it comes to rock the stage. Trust me on this one. So here's one reason why 2013 was awesome: JT is back and he's making awesome music.
(apparently there is some sort of problem with the video and I can't post it but here's the official audio)

9. "Summertime Sadness" - Lana Del Rey
Lana is a very beautiful and talented singer, and this song is one of her best songs. Even though it was released in 2012, that didn't keep Lana from making big waves this year with her single. But seriously now, it seemed to be played a bit too often on the radio.Well, at least is a good song. Go Lana!

8. "Best Song Ever" - One Direction
Now, this phenomen-boyband has brain-washed every single teenage girl. And it isn't enough that they are constantly in the centre of attention without even doing anything interesting, but when they have a new song out, it seems like the female population on the Earth just explodes with joy and excitement. And their video for "Best Song Ever" seems to put, practically, everyone in some sort of trance. Wake up people, they aren't that special.

7. "Royals" - Lorde
Perhaps the "Royals" singer, Lorde, might be a bit more special than what we are used to, but she sure made it big this year. The lyrics of her song are saying that she and her friends, basically don't give a damn about money and all those fancy things that the rappers always sing about.
So, with some rude comments on Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and other famous people, and being BFF with Taylor Swift (they celebrated T's birthday together in Australia with a garden party -- even though I don't fully understand how she disses Sel but in the same time she's Tay's bestfriend; after all Selena and Taylor are the ultimate Hollywood BFFs ), our New Zealander made it on top in a short time.

6. "Get Lucky" - Daft Punk ft Pharrell Williams
The French electronic music duo and Pharrell have one of the most played songs of 2013. "Get Lucky" sure is one of the songs that defined this year by constantly being heard out of our speakers. The song reached the top ten in the music charts of over 32 countries; and it also has 2 nominations for The Grammys.

5. "Roar" - Katy Perry
The Queen of Pop did not disappointed nor this year. "Roar" is her eighth number one song on the US Billboard Hot 100 and it also reached number one in various charts including Australia, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand and UK. Katy's "Roar" performance at the 2013 VMAs under the Brooklyn Bridge will remain in history as one of the most awesome performance from the VMAs ever. Despite that Katy Perry was criticized by PETA for the presence of exotic animals in the music video, the song still got 2 nominations at the 56th Grammy Awards.

4. Can't Hold Us" - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft Ray Dalton
The american rapper, Macklemore sure had a big year. With "Thrift Shop", then with "Same Love" and with the third single from album The Heist "Can't Hold Us", Macklemore and Ryan Lewis managed to be present in our playlists all this year. "Can't Hold Us" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their second number one hit in the United States. The "Can't Hold Us" music video is nominated for Best Music Video at the 2014 Grammys.

3. "The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)" - Ylvis
The Norwegian brothers have had one of the biggest hits of 2013. Their catchy song ended up being sang by almost everyone this year. And the great mystery of the 'What does the fox say?' was finally solved (to be honest I had this dilemma when I was little as well). "The Fox" might be called the "Gangnam Style" of 2013, but unfortunately the Ylvis brothers don't intend to release any album.

2. "Blurred Lines" - Robin Thicke ft. T.I., Pharrell
Now, aren't we all sick of this song? Even though at the beginning it seemed to be just a catchy cheeky little song, eventually it all turned into an obsession, ending up being played on the radio tens times / day. The lyrics? Disastrous. The video? Just what's with all the hashtags? And that goat? WTF!?... And why on Earth would they make even an unrated video? Did they needed as a soundtrack for a porn movie or something? Whatever, this whole thing might be a bit exaggerated but we have to admit that we had a big laugh watching the parodies that are all over the internet.

1. "Wrecking Ball" - Miley Cyrus
And finally our number one... I'd tell you guys to guess it, but since I already wrote it in the row above, I'm gonna just start with: "SURPRISE!!!" Did you expect this to be number one? I know you didn't. Well this year Miley was everywhhhhheerre, if you wanted to send an email -BAM- Miley, if you wanted to make a phone call - Miley, if you wanted to just watch TV - Miley, if you wanted to listen to some music- Miley, if you opened your fridge - a chicken that remembers you of Miley twerking. But if you'll try to forget her performances this year and her videos, you will realise that you actually liked her songs from this year. Right? Anyway, lickin' a hammer and standing on a wrecking ball naked ( let's just hope that constructors don't take Miley's example...now that would be terrifying) made out of this beautiful song a total disaster. But it's still the most famous hit in 2013.

So this was the top 25 songs of 2013.

That was all for now,
Until next time … I’m watching you
xoxo
